# How to deduct time in excel

In Excel dates are whole numbers and times are fractions after that. For example, today is 39533 so at noon (12:00 PM) would be 39533.5. There are a couple of ways to subtract 30 minutes but one of the simplest is to convert it to a fraction of a day. Just take your number and subtract the result of 30/24*60 (or 1440). 30/1440 = 0.020833... You can also use the TIME function (= Your Original Time - TIME(0,30,0)) but if you notice when you enter the values in the TIME function it is doing the exact maths I mentioned earlier. 30 minutes is 0.020833... days.

## Excel - time calculations

Hi there, I am trying to replicate a timesheet that we used in a previous role where the formula could calculate hours due/owed by the employee. I have managed to get the formula to work as long as the employee does their hours or over time but it will not show a negative result in the event that an employee does not do enough for that day. At present the calculation is relatively simple with a cell which adds up the finish time minus the start time and time taken for lunch (hours actual

## Excel date calculations

Hi, unfortunately i'm having a senior moment. I have 2 cells (A1 & B1), both with dates following the mm/dd/yyyy convention. Now i need to know the number of days between the 2 dates given. A simple calculation of =B1-A1 gives an answer of mm/dd/yyyy and not the number of days between those 2 dates. Any ideas? Thanks & Regards Ish

## Date Calculations

It relates to dates calculations Start Date End Date Daily rate Monthly rate 01/12/11 31/03/12 50.00 75.00 20/12/11 20/04/12 45.00 80.00 1. Is the Start Date a full month? if not return the number of days including the start date and mulitiply by Daily rate. Example Start date 20/12/2011 means that (31days -19day = 12day * daily rate) Example: start date= 01/12/2011 mean it is a full month and should be multiplied by monthly rate. 2 Is End date a full month?
