MS Project Server is a project management server solution designed by Microsoft. It leverages Windows 'SharePoint Services' as its foundation, and can be used by either a web interface or as a client application.

Project Server allows you to get the data you need to drive analysis and reporting, facilitate management, accelerate time to market, and improve quality. Many organisations choose to effectively manage and coordinate their organisation with MS Project Server.

MS project+server can more effectively manage and coordinate work ranging from OTP (one-time projects) to complex programs across the project life cycle. MS Project Server is designed to be accessible by MS Project Professional and MS Project Web Access.

Project workspaces provide a central location for teams to collaborate on their projects. You can use MS Project Server to effectively manage proposals, projects, and programs. MS Project Server is extensible and programmable

Microsoft extends the capabilities of MS Project with project+server and Web Access. Microsoft Project server keeps project information on a central database, protected from corruption and unauthorised access. An administrator can then control the security, defining access rights and users.

Because project managers need to communicate project plans and distribute task assignments to team members, the assignment of tasks can be distributed to team member 'home pages' through Web Access. The team members can then communicate the task or project status and changes, keeping the manager up to date on progress.

Resource workloads can be analysed (for example by project or by resource). This is done using the Resource centre and allows organisations to estimate future resource requirements, thereby making more efficient use of resources.
