RE: School setting

Hi Lois,

The are two good ways to do this:

1) You could create a folder for each student i.e. www.mysite.com/name you could even break this down into year group or class i.e. www.mysite.com/year/name or www.mysite.com/year/class/name

2) You could create a sub domain for each student i.e. http://myname.mysite.com

Hope this helps
David

RE: School setting

Hi Lois,

There are a few things you can do here.

If you don't mind all the students sharing the same FTP log-in details, you can set up one FTP account (eg. 'student') and give them read/write access to a directory on your web server (Eg. www.yourdomain.com/students)

You could also have a different folder per student. eg. www.yourdomain.com/fred or www.yourdomain.com/student/fred - and still have the one FTP log-in. The only down-side would be that the students would be able to delete each others' files or store their own files into each others' directories.

The other thing you could do is set up subdomains, and have a separate FTP log-in for each student. This would take more time to manage. (Eg. studentname.yourdomain.com)

If you're unsure about subdomains, talk to your web site administrator. Depending on your hosting, there may be a charge for each subdomain you have. Others allow you to have unlimited subdomains.

Regards, Rich
