Hello Krasi,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel Advanced course with BEST Training.

Thank you for your question regarding using the Solver Add-in. When using the solver, you need to specify certain information for the process to work. One of these areas is the CONSTRAINTS area, which will indicate what restrictions the system must use in order to meet your requirements.

To the the contraints, you need two pieces of information - the cell reference and the value you want to constrain to.
Once you have these listed, you can then enter then easily into the constraints section.
Click on ADD.
In the first box, select the cell reference you want to constrain.
Next, choose the operator (Less than, greater than , equal to) in the second box.
Lastly, enter the value that you want to constrain to.

If you want to add further constratins, click on ADD. If not, then click on OK.

Your constraints have been entered, and you can proceed with using the solver to calculate possible scenarios for your model.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,

Richard

Excel tip:

Conditional formatting for cells that return text , not picked up by Go to command

If you have tried to format all cells containing text even those that display text as a result of a formula you may have had difficulty. As Go to command with constant selected does not pick up formulas that result in text.

Then try this. Select the range the formula cells appear in on your sheet. Format, select Conditional Formatting menu. In the dialog box under Condition 1, select "Formula Is" from drop down. Next to it in the Formula Box, enter the formula =Istext(A1. Click Format button , choose desired formatting settings and click OK. To go ahead and apply the conditional formatting click OK to accept
