i'm having difficulty remebering how to assign a drop down box to a cell with options to click on to put text in the selected cell.

Hi Laura

Thank you for your question

If you select the cells that are to contain the data and then click on Data-validation.

In the resulting dialog box, select LIST in the allow data combo. You will then be given the option either to type each item of your list in, with each item separated by a comma.

Alternatively, if your list is entered at some point in the workbook then you can select the data by highlighting the relevant range of cells
