The short answer to your question is Yes Macros can be used to incorporate other Microsoft products.

You can record a Macro and copy and paste some data from Word to Excel. But if you are asking Macro to do something complicated to do then you do need some understanding of VBA.

To get more understanding of VBA you can always record a Macro and then choose Tools > Macro> Macros
