Hiya Ilker

Thank you for attending the course on Monday

There is an easy way to tell if a formula is linked to the sheet or a file, you will need to click on the cell that you are interested in, then go to the view menu and toolbars, then click formula auditing to reveal the auditing toolbar

then click on the trace precedents button you will then see a number of arrows pointing to cells or pointing to a mini excel spreadsheet

the one pointing to cells, is linked to the sheet and the other pointing to a mini sheet will show you its linked to another sheet or file

To find out which is which you will need to double click on the end of the arrow line, then if it a file of a sheet the name will tell you which is which

If this posting has helped in answering your query then I would request you to mark the posting as Resolved. In case you have a related question then please ask the question as a separate posting.

Best Regards

Excel tip:

Hiding Formulae in the Formula Bar

It is possible to protect the contents of a cell reference(s) from amendment by applying cell protection. The contents of the cell reference can also be stopped from displaying in the formula bar.

Step 1: Select Format > Cells > Protection.

Step 2: Tick Hidden option. Ensure Locked is ticked

Step 3: Select Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet

(Ensure "Protect worksheet and contents of locked cells" is ticked)
