When I create a pivot table when I bring across the inforamtin into the layout, why does it always say count of instead of sum of?

Hello

The default depends on where in the pivot table you put your data. If you have a column of dates for example and you drop them in the 'drop data items here' section then it will do a count because there is nothing to sum because you cannot sum dates. If you are putting something in this section which is the value you want to sum or count so numeric values then it should go to sum. If it does not then double click where it says count and it should bring up the screen that lets you select if you want count, sum etc.
