Can I take a website created in FrontPage & transfer it to Dream Weaver CS3?

Hi Paul,

The short answer is Yes.

However, you may lose FrontPage functionality.

Frontpage (now Expression Web) and Dreamweaver are both web page editors in their own right: they can both do basic editing. eg. If you set a paragraph to have a certain colour in Frontpage, then load the page into Dreamweaver and select the paragraph, Dreamweaver will show in it's properties panel that 'red' has been applied. This is basic stuff.

The more advanced stuff involves 'wizard' modules of HTML/JavaScript code that Frontpage and Dreamweaver can interpret and let you change the options of each code in a nice wizard style dialogue box.

eg. In Dreamweaver CS3 you can insert a SPRY tabs module. Once added, you can use the same Dreamweaver wizard to edit your tab options. Open the file in Frontpage, and you won't be able to edit the SPRY tabs module because it's not a part of Frontpage. Frontpage will just ignore the code, or let you code it by hand.

You shouldn't have too much trouble moving from Frontpage to Dreamweaver, because Dreamweaver has much more functionality.
