Hi Katrina, Thank you for your post, welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoyed the Excel 2007 intro course, in answer to your question, and a good one it is too; BODMAS stands for Brackets, Ordinals (raised to the power of), Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction, this is the sequence that Excel (and Access) follow when calculating, in the case that you have mentioned the figures in the cells will be considered by Excel and calculated in the order laid down by BODMAS, in this case because Multiplication comes before Addition it will calculate B1*C1 and then add A1 to the value, so where A1 = 1 B1 = 2 and C1 = 3, 3*2=6 +1 = 7.
