When inputting recurring tasks the task type is fixed units, however when adding resources the duration does not change, but it does when it is a task. Please explain. Thanks.

RE: MS Project - Recurring Tasks

Hi Diane

Thank you for your question

Simply put, the default setting for a normal task is for it to be "effort driven". This means that as additional resources are added, the duration of the task shortens. The effort driven setting overrides the effects of the task type

The default setting for recurring tasks is "not effort driven". This means that when you add resources, if the task type is fixed unit, the duration will remain the same and the total work will increase.

I hope this clarifies matters for you

Regards

Stephen
