Hi Laura, Thank you for the post, welcome to the forum, in answer to your question; the little green triangle in the corner of the cell is an indication that there is something wrong or incorrect with the formula in the cell, (like Word's green wriggly underlining, telling you there is something wrong with the Grammar) this could be as simple as Excel telling you that you have not included adjacent cell/s in your range, the green corner triangle can be ignored or you can select the cell, then move your mouse gently towards the exclamation mark which has appeared, click on its drop down arrow to see the reason behind the marking, you could at this point repair the problem, or if you wish to remove the marking click for Excel to ignore the problem. Autonumber in Excel

To create an autonumber field, can use the Offset() function.

In cell A1, enter the number 1.
Then in cell A2, enter this formula:

=OFFSET(A2,-1,0)+1

Then copy the formula from cell A2, down as far as you need.
