Organising chart data

by - delegate Simon [23 posts] (2008 Apr 25 Fri, 12:50) replyReply

I need to create a chart which shows each month of the year on the x-axis and value on the y. I need to show several years on the chart, with each year being a different colour. I'm not sure how to arrange the data to enable this - ie how can I get the Jan 05, Jan 06, Jan 07 & Jan 08, Feb 05, Feb 06 and so on to overlay on one chart using just 12 months along the x-axis? Grateful for your advice, thanks, Simon

Hi

You need to columns, the first is date, the second is value. Add the chart and right click on a bar to format the data series. On the options tab select the 'Varies colour by point option' to make each bar a different colour. Please find attached an example.
