Hi,

I am tring to create a square with rounded edges (as a border for pictures).

I have found the template from basic shapes. When I try to re-size the image it seems to be locked. I can only change the size by either manually entering a size with numbers or having to accept that it will only move in big blocks. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I ideally want to be able to move it to any size that I want by simply clicking on the corner and dragging it out.

Also, on some pages (and only on some - I have no idea why!) I get a drawing canvas appear. This makes it even more difficult to move the shape around...and I can't seem to get rid of it at all!

I have tried everything I can possibly think of!

If you need to call me to clarify any of this information, please do so on: 020 7423 1764 (Mon-Fri 9-5)

Many thanks
Angela.

Hi Angela

Thanks for your questions.

For the Drawing Canvas, you can switch it off by going to Tools - Options - General then there is a box 'Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes' that you can deselect.

I'm not sure what's causing the problem with resizing the shape as I haven't come across that before, but I always find it easiest when I'm working with shapes is to go the the Draw button on the Drawing toolbar, then go to Grid and take the check out next to the Snap objects to grid option.

Have a go at changing these settings and let me know if you're still having problems.

thanks
Amanda

Find out all Word's shortcut keys

Want to learn more Word shortcut keys?

Here's how to you can find more shortcut key combinations:

1. Look up shortcuts in Help - this should bring up a link to the Keyboard Shortcuts topic.

2. Word has a built-in macro that you can run which will produce a list of all Word's shortcut keys that you can then print.

To access the macro, go to Tools - Macro - Macros. Use the dropdown arrow next to Macros in: to select Word commands.

Scroll down the list under Macro names and select ListCommands, then click Run.

Click OK. A document listing shortcut keys should be generated for you, which you can print for future reference.
