RE: Excel - Adding multiple lines within a single cell

by - trainer Rajeev gold contributer[480 posts] (2008 May 15 Thu, 17:29) replyReply

Dear Rose

Thank you attending the Excel Intermediate course. I hope you enjoyed the course and found the day to be fruitful.

To force the cursor to blink on the next line on the same cell you have to press ALT+Enter. This is also known as a line break.

It you wish to simply put some text on the separate lines without adjusting the column width you can also use the Wrap text facility which you can find in Format > Cells… In the dialog box click on the Alignment tab and choose wrap text.

Please make sure to select the al the relevant cells beforehand. When you try to reduce the width of the column after applying the wrap text the data on the cell hides behind the row. Therefore, you might have to increase the row height to see the entire data.

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

Rajeev Rawat
