can you give a simple explanation of how to use advanced filters? Thank-you

Thank you for your question

The first thing is to make sure that the list that is to be filtered has column headings at the top of each column. this is important as the filter references the column headings.

Next, you need to specify the criteria for your filter. This is done by creating a seperate table, with the column headings naming the column to be fltered and the criteria for the filter underneath it.

For example if you had a list of data comprising name, product, order quantity and price and you wanted all the sales of shirts made by William and Mary, then your criteria range would look something like:-

Name Product
William Shirts
Mary Shirts

Once you have created this, simply click on DATA-FILTER-ADVANCED FILTER and and select the ranges for the data to be filtered and the criteria range. You will also need to specify where the filtered data will go. Then simply click on OK to complete the filter
