RE: Scenario Manager

Hi Martyn

Thank you for your question; and welcome to the forum.

A scenario can be described as a set of cell values that is saved and substituted into your worksheet as required. If you have multiple scenarios saved, you can use the Scenario Manager to load different scenarios into your worksheet to see which one gives the best results. For example, you might use scenarios to represent different budget options.

When you are creating scenarios for a worksheet, it is a good idea to create a base scenario with the actual or current data for the worksheet and name it appropriately. This way, when you are exploring the scenarios you have created, you will always be able to return to the original (or actual) data.

Scenarios is covered as part of our Excel Advanced course.

I hope this helps.

Excel tip:

Stop Formula Returning A "#DIV/0" Error

If a formula returns a #DIV/0 error message there is a way to avoid such results.

For example the formula =A1/B1 will return a #DIV/0 if B1 is empty or a zero.

If you protect your formulas with the ISERROR function, the formula will then look like this:

=IF(ISERROR(A1/B1),0,A1/B1)

In plain English: should the result of A1 divided by B1 be an error change the result to 0 else show the result of A1/B1.
