is it possible to band data once it is in the pivot table ie 0-5000, 5000-10000, etc
RE: pivot tables - Grouping data/values
Dear James
Thank you for attending Excel Advanced Course. I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.
Once you have created the Pivot table it is possible to group your data. Please follow these steps:
1. Right-click on the first column which should have all the figures.
2. Choose Group and show details> and then choose group...
3. In the group dialog box type the minimum and maximum and also specify by how much you want to increase.
You can leave the default values if you want and the bands will be created for you.
NB: You can use the same method to group dates by months, Qtr, year, etc…
I hope this answered your query
If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!
Kindest Regards

Thanks for the help there but now i've got one group of data into bands i want to make the bands 0-499, 500-999, 1000-1499, etc. I can only make the bands 0-500, 500-1000, 1000-1500. With this what happens if one of the data entries is 500, which group will it be in?
After this i want to put a column on the pivot table to show how many data entries are there in each band. I presume i use dcount but can't seem to make it work.
THanks
James
