Hi Paul,

There are different image file formats, yes. The main ones are JPG or (JPEG), GIF, PNG and BMP.

JPG is best for photos and e-mailing.
GIF is good for screenshot captures, transparent and animated graphics.
PNG is good for general web graphics (can also include some transparency)
BMP is what Windows Paint uses, and can be large, but is lossless.
