Hi Sarita,
Thank you for your post, I hope you enjoy your PowerPoint Advanced course today; in answer to your questions:

The Action Buttons in PowerPoint are placed on a slide to allow the presenter to perform certain tasks, ie jump to a specific slide, link to an external program or web page etc etc.
They can also be used to run different presentations (hidden slides etc)

Shortcut keys: you can view/print out shortcut keys for each program, if you type "shortcut keys" in the help box you will be presented with options which will enable you to access all the keyboard commands for that program. (You will have to do this in each program)
