RE: Powerpoint Introduction

Hello Mike, welcome to the forum and thank you for your post; in answer to your question:

Animating text and objects:

There are two ways to animate text and objects: Preset Animation and Custom Animation. Although Preset Animation is relatively simpler, I strongly recommend Custom Animation because it allows more control over animation.

Click on the slide that you wish to animate and select Slide Show > Custom Animation (You must be in Normal, Outline, or Slide View).
In the Custom Animation dialog box, each object is identified in the Check to animate slide objects list.
(If you don't remember what a particular object is, click the object's name in the list; that object appears selected in the preview window.
Click in the object's checkbox to animate that object.
On the Effects tab make your entry animation and sound selections.
You may also choose to dim an object after animation (this effect is particularly useful for emphasizing individual points on bulleted lists).
On the Order and Timing tab arrange the objects in the order that you want them to appear.
You may also choose the objects to appear on mouse click or automatically. Do not use the automatic option unless absolutely necessary, as it is easier to lose control during the presentation.
Use animation sparingly! Too many effects will distract your audience. Use animation effects to make a point, not to show off.

I hope that has helped, regards Pete

RE: Powerpoint Introduction

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your question.

First step is to insert or draw all the shapes and pictures you need and then select the first item you would like to animate.

Go to Slide Show - Custom Animation and then Click the Add Animation button.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Simon

Powerpoint tip:

Make an impact with your opening

Setting a few slides on a continous loop before beginning a presentation can help to set the presentation tone for the audience and build audience anticipation and curiosity.

Once you have created your opening presentation slides, open the presentation and go to Slide Show - Set Up Show, then tick the Loop continuously until "Esc" box.

Put the presentation into slideshow view then press the Esc key when you are ready to begin your actual presentation.
