How easy is it transfer content from an established intranet (using Wisigwig) to Dreamweaver format?

RE: Dreamweaver

Hello Elaina

Hope you enjoyed your DreamWeaver training with BEST STL yesterday.

Thank you for your question regarding transferring exisiting websites to DreamWeaver.

In principal, the vast majority of websites can be edited in Dreamweaver, because of the common HTML languages used in webdesign. You should be able to connect to the webserver, using your login details and FTP address, and go from there. IF you have a system administrator, they might be able to point you in the right direction to get the files.

I suggest testing your setup before diving into full development. In other words, get a copy of your website, and see if you can work with it in DreamWeaver. Upload it to a test site, and make testing changes there, rather than the live site, until you are confident that your changes will work.

Hope that answers your question.

Regards

Richard

Dreamweaver tip:

Testing a site

When developing a site, you have to cater to the widest possible audience allowing for users with different browsers and display settings.
Test pages to see how they look with:

- different display resolutions
- browser with graphics turned off
- many different browsers not just IE
- if possible different operating systems.
