AP Div tag's relative alignment

Dreamweaver CS3 course

I am designing my website using PhotoshopCS3 and exporting the designs into dreamweaverCS3, all my pages consist of sliced images. This is my problem

When I centre align the “body” (which includes all the sliced layers) and give it two line breaks I have problems with the AP Div tag’s. There is no problem with inserting information - it is just the view in Dreamweaver does not correspond when you preview it in Internet Explorer? For example I will insert a bit of text over the main “body” of the page and it will be in the correct place - but when I press F12 it is not relative.

Is there something I am missing out when aligning my pages because I don’t have this problem with the AP div tags if I do not centre align my page?

Anybodies help would be much appreciated!

Hi Evlambios,

Could you paste the URL of your page so I can have a closer look?

If it's only the fact that Dreamweaver doesn't show the same as your browser, then this is a common problem. Dreamweaver doesn't always show the exact page markup, frustrating as it may be.

This is a common problem many designers need to overcome - people use different browsers to view web pages. IE, Firefox, Opera, iPhone... the list goes on. And your web site will look different on all of them. Often you may have to design your site differently for each platform, and using different CSS files can help with this.

Having a look at your CSS and web page will help to diagnose the problem. I am assuming you're using Dreamweaver CS3.

Regards, Rich
