when text is out of sync on a presentation i.e the bullet points are in line but the text is indented, is the problem with the set up of the design template?

Thank you for your question.
I would be surprised if it was a problem with the template. I have never come across that problem when using a design template before.
You can use the paragraph markers on the ruler to line the text up.
