Closing windows in Access

Is it generally better to use CTR W rather than the box in the extreme RHS to close windows when using Access ?

In particular when having run a report - I ahve noticed I sometimes accidentally close the entire database

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Closing windows in Access

Dear Joanna

Thank you for attending Access Introduction course. I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

Shortcut keys are not everyone's cup of tea. With CTRL + W you have to be a bit careful because although in Access it close objects but it can also close the entire database.

Normally in Reports when you press CTRL+W it should only close the report and not the whole database. If you are on the Print Preview of a report you can simply press ESC key which also closes only the Report. But if you are in the Design view of the report then CTRL + W should close only the Report.

CTRL +F4 is another alternative to CTRL+W.

I hope I haven't confused you too much.

Please mark this post as resolved if it has helped in answering your query.

Kindest Regards
