RE: Primary Key

Dear Graham

Thank you for attending Access Intermediate course. I hope you enjoyed teh course and benefited from it.

Unfortunately the only way you can find out the field that has been assigned as priimary key is either the Design view or the relationship window where you can see the bold fields are the primary key.

The only other way to find out is by common sense. If you see that the data is not duplicating on a field and the heading suggests something like Cust No. or Cust ID, etc... then that will be the primary key.

I hope that has answered your question. Please mark this post as resolved.

Kindest Regards

Access tip:

Run with the total

Often when creating reports with lists of transactions it can be useful to have a column which totals the transactions as the report progresses.

Using the Sum function gives the total for the whole group, not a running total.

Access provides an easy method of achieving a running total.

Click on the text box containing the data you wish to contain the running total.
Select the Data tab
Click in the Running sum option
Click the down arrow to view three options
