When using Excel for a mail merge we are finding that when the dates listed are merged to the word document they are being displayed in American format despite being typed in UK format in the cells and the column has been set to dd/mm/yyyy format UK (English). Does anyone have any ideas how to stop this happening?

Hi Joanna
I can only guess that because Excel dates are really nu,mbers formatted to look like dates there is something in the programming on the merge process that converts them to native microsoft format.
My suggestion would be to type the dates in Excel using text format e.g. 26th September 2008. The merge process should then merge the text rather than convert a number, and the dates should display in Word as required.
