Resources and cost allocation

For a task with say a duration of 10 days, if I have a resource who is only contributing 50% of their time on 1 day to the task and other resources chipping in over the 10 days, without the task requiring 10 days of effort (its just that due to waiting for things reviews, availability etc we will take 10 days to deliver), how do I represent this on the gantt chart and calculate the cost? Thank you.

RE: Resources and cost allocation

Hi Patricia

Thanks for your question. You might find it easiest to model this scenario by working in the Task Usage view and editing the allocated work for each resource assigned to the task.

You can access the view by going to View > Task usage

I hope this helps - let us know if you have any other questions.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Ms project tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Project 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Project 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
