A rule to copy selected sent items to a specific folder

Hello
I want to copy some of my sent message to a specific folder when I send them (rather than dragging them across from my sent folder)

I know how to creat a new category, but don't know how to select a category for a message I am sending. Ideally this would be a simple click. Then I could create a rule so that all messages I'd given the relevant category would be sent to my specific folder. How do I do this please?

RE: a rule to copy selected sent items to a specific folder

Hi Liz

Try this - create a rule Tools > Rules Wizard > New > Start from a blank rule > check messages after sending

then next

choose assigned to a specific category (and set your category)

then next

choose move a copy to the specified folder(and specify a folder)

then next

add an exception if you want

and next

finish and save your rule

Finally when you compose a message click on the options button. At the bottom of the Options dialog box you can choose a category to match your rule.

I hope this helps - let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Outlook tip:

Remove the Reading Pane from All Folders

If you are sick of the reading pane in Outlook 2003 popping up in your mail folders there is a way to globally disable it:

1. Right click the Outlook icon
2. Change the end of the command from /recycle to /nopreview.

The only problem is when Outlook applies certian updates it defaults it back but this isnt' very often.
