Tally Boolean - Query/Form

by - Jenny [guest] (2007 Feb 21 Wed, 17:48) replyReply

In a form you can tally up the number of 'yes' in a boolean field. Can this be done in a query?

Also, if two participants from the same company attends an event. How do you tally up the company participation (either in a form or a query)? IE Total number of participants is 2 but total number of company participation is 1.

Appreciate your assistance.

Thanks

The formulas would look like this (just change the ‘NameOfCheckBox’ to the name of your check box):

Yes (checked):

Sum(NameOfCheckBox)*-1

No (not checked):

Count(NameOfCheckBox)+Sum(NameOfCheckBox)

If you are doing this in a form or a report, you will need to add an = sign before the formulas.

Access tip:

Splittng a database

Split your database into two (at least).

Keep all of your code, forms, reports, etc. in one 'code' database and all of your tables in another 'data' database which is then linked to the 'code' database.

This makes modifications, updates and back-ups that much easier and allows you to work on a new version of your 'code' database without affecting existing users. It also makes it easier should you wish to convert a single user databases into a multi-user networked version.
