How do i adjust subtask dates and make the main task dates follo
by - delegate Nick [3 posts] (2007 Feb 23 Fri, 12:43) Reply
When i add a subtask and i change the date, the main task dates do not adjust to show the changes.
For exampe; if i increase the number of days of the subtask, the main task still shows the original dates, even though the subtask finishes at a later date.
Can anyone tell me how i can change it back, so that when i adjust the dates of my subtasks the main task follows suit?
Thanks

Hi Nick
This might be obvious, but best to check> Have you indented the task, so it is a subtask? If you just have one subtask, then yes when you vary the duration this will be reflected in the main task.
However if you have more than one subtask and they are not linked, then by default the duration of your main task depends on the greatest duration set to your subtasks (on account that all subtasks start at the same time).
Does this help?

I have resolved the problem,
I did have it as a subtask but the subtask dates were not reflected in the duration of the main task. For example my subtask was 5 days and the main task only shows a duration of 1 day.
I resolved it by going to the tools tab, choosing options, selecting the calculations tab and then selecting 'Automatic' for the caculation mode.
The problem was that i had 'manual' selected for some reason. With it on Manual you can change subtask dates and they do not effect the length of the main task.
Sorted now but thanks.
