Hi Helen,
Thank you for your question:
In response; If you mean can you format a border/box around text in the Header/Footer view the answer is Yes.
Change to View>Headers and Footers, select the text or graphic you wish to box and from the Format>Borders and Shadings menu option choose your border.
If however you wish to create a box which encompasses the entire heading area use the drawing toolbar to create your box and place it in position. Remember to right click and apply text flow atributes to it, if it is a Text Box you are using. I hope that helps... Pete
