Project Intro Intermediate course

MS Project Resource over allocation

On the resource allocation, highlighted (red) areas are over allocated.

Is there a more convienent way of viewing over allocation of resources other than scrolling to find specific days where areas are highlighted in red.

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: MS Project Resource over allocation

Hi Archie

Thank you for your question.

There are several ways you can find the points at which resources become over allocated in Project.

One way would be to split the screen so that the resource sheet is in the top pane and the Gantt chart below the split. A quick way to set this up is to turn on the view bar (View > View bar) then click on the resource sheet. Next press and hold the shift key then click on the Gantt Chart view. Let go of shift. Now if you click on an over allocated resource you can see the tasks they have been assigned to in the filtered Gantt at the bottom of the screen.

I hope this helps - let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Ms project tip:

Format individual bars on your GANTT chart

To draw attention to a bar on your Gantt chart simply double click it. From the dialogue box that opens make your selection of text and bar modifications.
