RE: Access 2003

Dear Pauline

Thank you for attending Access Courses!! I hope you enjoyed the courses and benefited from them.

I am not sure what you mean by disabling the Shift key. I'd be interested in knowing what feature you are planning to disable by disabling the Shift key!!

I hope to hear from you soon and would also request you to be more specific by providing us with some example so that we can provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

RE: Access 2003

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
The question was with regard to setting up an access data base.
Is there something you can do if you want to preventing others getting into the back of the data base using the shift function on opening?

RE: Access 2003

Dear Pauline

Thanks for that there are few things you can do. I'm not sure if you covered creating different user groups in Access Adv. and giving different user different rights can resolve this.

You can also convert your whole database to MDE file which is almost like an .exe (Executable) file that ensures the users cannot access the design view of the objects in your database.

If you need help in doing this please let me know and I should be able to provide you some resource for your assistance!!

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

Access tip:

Deleting duplicate records from a table

You cannot delete records tables where there duplicate records. A way around this is to create a new table which wont hold the duplicates. and then deleting the old table.

1. Use a make-table query based on this table only. IMPORTANT - Ensure that you include all of the fields from your original table or you may loose data.

2. Open the query's property sheet by using VIEW, QUERY, PROPERTIES, and set the Unique Values property to Yes

3. Because you have selected the Unique Values to Yes when you run the query, Access creates a new table without duplicate records. You can now delete the old table and rename the new one.
