RE: Importing data into Access

Dear Fiona

Thank you for attending Access Introduction course!! I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

Please follow these steps to import excel spreadsheet into new table in Access:

Please make sure the excel file has Column headings on the first row. So if you have any main headings or subheadings please remove them before importing it into Access.

1. In Access choose File > Get Extrenal Data > Import...
2. In the Import Dailog box please ensure you choose Microsoft Excel from the file of type drop down list
3. Look for the location where your Excel file is located.
4. Click Import
5. The wizard will start and simply follow the wizard step by step and it will import the spreadsheet as a table into Access.

You have to be very careful when you do that because in Intermediate level we cover Normalisation which is a vital part in ensuring the fields in Tables are normalised!!

If you wish to know what other topics are coverd in Access Intermediate course and the schedule for them then please refer to the following link:

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards
