Steven has attended:
Excel Introduction course

Microsoft Project

Why would I copy a Gantt reports into an Excell document rather than a word document?

RE: Microsoft Project

Hi Steven

Both work equally well. Excel is good for pasting the data tables, Word for pasting the copied picture of the Gantt Chart. For example to copy the table to Excel first click on the square above the row number 1. This selects all the tasks in the table. From the edit menu choose Copy task and switch to Excel.

Click in the first sheet and from the Edit menu choose paste. The table is pasted into the cells.

If you would like to avoid including summary tasks in the pasted data change a setting in Project before copying. From the Tools menu choose Options and the View tab. At the bottom of the dialog box remove the tick from Show summary tasks. Then copy and paste as before.

I hope this helps - let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew
