Thanks for your post - sorry for our late reply
When building a background design make sure you use slide master view and then insert all the things you need such as logos background colours and text styles all get done in the master view - then save this as a design template so you can use this at another time - when saving the design dont change the location as this is needed to get the design after

The Grids and Guides feature in PowerPoint can serve as a visual guide to assist with aligning and/or resizing shapes.

Go to View > Grid and Guides or on the Drawing toolbar, select Draw > Grid and Guides. You can then choose to display the grid or guides on the screen.
