Thank you for your question.

Smart Tags will appear when you have performed certain operation in Microsoft applications (e.g. after you paste something).

The reason a Smart Tag appears is that it is providing you options for what you might like to do next once you have performed the associated operation, e.g. after you paste something, the Smart Tag gives you options on how you might like the pasted text or data to be formatted.

You do not have to select any of the options, only if you would like to use one.
