RE: Importing to project

Hi David

Thanks for your question. In short no, the import process doesn't automatically pick up on indents in Excel. The way to achieve this would be in Excel to create a column called Outline Level and use it to indicate how indented an item should be. For example the an Excel sheet with two columns

Column A:
Outline Level
=========
1
2
2
1
2

Column B:
Name
====
A summary
A sub task
Another sub task
A new summary
That also has a sub task

Will result in a plan that looks like this:

A summary
A sub task
Another sub task
A new summary
That also has a sub task

To import the sheet in Project choose File > Open and set the text type to Excel and follow the wizard.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Giving Someone a Gantt Chart Snapshot

To pass on a picture of a Gantt chart segment, choose the appropriate view, select the rows to be included, then click on the camera icon and select For Screen. The graphics image can be pasted into another document. (See Paste icon forn Project 2010)
