Split Database

I need to split a database which willbe used over 7 sites, and will be accessed by 130 staff. Most likely, only 40 staff will actually ever access it, but all staff need to be able to access it if the need arose.

Is there any easy way of updating the links, and installing the front end without visiting all locations and installing this on each desk?

Thank you for your question

The front end databases would all need to be installed separately on each machine. Possible solutions would be to either email the database to each user with instructions on how to refresh the links. Alternatively you could send the database to your IT support people at each site and get them to do it for you

Access tip:

Create An Inaccessible Field On A Form

There is sometimes a need to make a field in a form look like a normal field but be completely inaccessible to the user. To do this:

In the Field's Properties
Set the ENABLED property to No
Set the LOCKED property to Yes

The field will not grey out, but the user will not be able to do anything with it.
