Including images in a report (or form) for each record by linkin

Hi,

I would like to include images that are saved on my C: Drive within the forms and reports of my database. The images need to be linked so the database does not balloon in size.

So I need to add a bound object frame to a form that has the control source as the "image" field in the table. From the table I right click in the "image" field and insert an image by selecting the "create from File" option, browsing to the image and clicking the "link" option box. I DO NOT select the "display as icon" option.

But when I view my form it displays the icon and file name but not the image. If I double click on the icon it open the image.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

MR VERY Confused

RE: Including images in a report (or form) for each record by li

Dear Jason

Thank you for attending Access Advanced and VBA courses!! I hope you enjoyed the courses and benefited from them.

Normally Access is very fussy when it comes to graphic files.

It would be worth investigating the format of the picture files i.e. gif, jpg or bmp.

Please refer to the following link to get insight of how Access deal with graphic files.

It mentions various ways of accessing pictures in MS Access such as OLE, bound, unbound etc...

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/HA011472041033.aspx#DispImg

This is another link that specifically talks about using Jpeg or gif files in MS Access.

Please let me know if these links are useful to you and if they help you in resolving your specific query!!

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

Access tip:

Create a custom Close button on a Form

By default, Forms that you create in Access have a full set of control buttons, that is, a title bar with Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons in the top right-hand corner and a Control Menu in the top left-hand corner.

Sometimes Access needs to follow certain procedures or events as users close a Form (such as automatically opening another Form perhaps). So it is often a good habit to create a custom Close button on a Form for everyone to use, rather than the standard closing cross.

To create a custom Close button:

1) In Form Design View, draw a Command Button onto the Form.

2) Use the Command Button Wizard to select Form Operations under Categories, and Close Form under Actions.

3) Choose Finish.

Access then creates the button and code to close the form for you. You can add any extra code that needs to run as the Form closes to the same Close procedure.

However, the creation of a custom Close button is pointless if the closing X in the top right-hand corner of the Form remains active. To make the closing X inactive, open the Form Properties box then on the Format tab set the Close Button setting to No. This will grey out the closing X leaving it visible, but inactive.
