thank you for your question.
Lag is a delay created between two tasks. You can add delay by double clicking on the Successor task and choosing the Predecessor tab. From here you can use the lag column to add delay to the relationship.
Float describes the gap between two tasks which is created when the Successor starts later in the plan than the finish of its Predecessor. This might be because the Successor can start no earlier than a certain date or a second Predecessor is pushing it off into the future.
Lag delay is fixed. There will always be that number of days between the tasks. Float (or Slack) is flexible. That means it can be used up if the Predecessor gets delayed.
