Indexing

As indexing is about saving time when querying - does Access ssign a number to a value? If so where is that number stored?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Indexing

Dear Anne

Thank you for attending Access Intermediate course!! I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

Please refer to the link which provides you a bit of information on Indexes in MS Access.

http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=1752

Is there a specific reason why you want to know where the index values arte stored?

If you simply want to know which fields the indexes have been applied to then you have to go to the design view of the table and click on the Indexes button next to the primary key button.

Please remember that Primary key is automatically indexed by default.

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

For example, P001, where P is the prefixed letter

Instructions
Step 1. Create Field Name
Step 2. Set Data Type to Autonumber
Step 3. Within Field Property General tabsheet,
enter Format property as [backslash]P000
