Could you clarify your requirements for me please. In particular.

1. Do you want to alter the formats for specified ranges?
2. Do you want to find cells with specified formats
3. Do you want the formats in a cell to change depending on its value?

Yes I tink thats the term, I want to understand what I do to find formats and how I find the glossary and language of the formatting.

I have just implemented an excel sheet at work for my stamps, we dont have a budget but I have a few columns and rows incorporating amt of stamps, total they cost, along with who spends what amt per day (if any) on stamps, and I would like to monitor and combine the value of the stamps to go down with the total, therefore I can see how much I have in stamps and cash.

3. Do you want the formats in a cell to change depending on its value?

I need to understand them first. How do i find out what they mean?

Excel tip:

##### displaying in Excel

When you get a series of hash symbols (####) appearing in some of your cells in a spreadsheet, this can make you think that you've make some kind of mistake.

This is a common misconception - what this actually means is that the cell is not wide enough to fully display the content of the cell.

All you need to do to see what is actually in the cell is to widen the column that the cell is in.
