V Lookups take their data from a lookup table and consequently need always to refer to the specified table.
They are however fairly flexible in that;
1. The data in the table can be altered whenever to reflect ongoing changes
2. Additional columns of data can be added and used in formulas. Thus the table can adapt as required
3. Additional rows can also be added, although the table array argument would have to be updated to reflect this
