Excel can indeed autofill both days and dates. If you type in a day and copy dow it will automatically fil in the following days. Similaly if you type in a date and copy down it will increment on a daily basis.
Another option is to format the date so that it also contains the day. So if you select the range to format and then click on Format-Cells select the number tab and then select custom from the category list, you can then set the format by typing
DDDD DD/MM/YYYY
into the box headed type on the right hand side of the dialog box
