Dreamweaver 8 & other versions

I recently did the Dreamweaver 8 course however have had trouble with my 8 software ever since and have had to revert to an older version (MX) in the meantime until cashflow allows a purchase of another 8.

What are the main differences between MX and 8?

When I am able to upgrade should I opt for 8 or are there benefits to going for CS3 or CS4?

Thanks

RE: Dreamweaver 8 & other versions

Hi Jo,

Thanks for your question. I hope you enjoyed the Dreamweaver training.

That's a shame that you are having trouble with Dreamweaver 8. Have you tried un-installing, then reinstalling the application?

We have a 'differences' page on this web site, which discusses the main differences between all the Dreamweaver version:
http://www.microsofttraining.net/versions/dreamweaver-difference.php

So you should be able to find info on MX vs 8 on that page.

In terms of answering whether to go to CS3 or CS4, there's no clear answer. Those applications will require more computer power, so if you do decide to go to them, make sure your computer(s) can handle it.

There may be more features in the newer versions, but they won't prevent you from making a web site. Personally, I still use Dreamweaver 8 because I find it quicker to run and nice and basic without all the features!

You could also download a Trial version and test them out for yourself, see if there is benefits for you to upgrade. See the Adobe web site for details on the trials.

Also see our 'differences' page for details on the differences in the new versions.

If this answer resolves your query, please mark the question as 'resolved' (see below). Otherwise, please post a follow-up response to this post, and I will assist you further.

Regards, Rich
