Hi Gary. Difficult to post screenshots to lead you through this, so here's a link culled from the net which I hope will point you in the right direction. Compression is possible, but the functionality is buried in a different place in the software:

Secondly, importing Flash animation seems to be an increasing headache as Adobe and Microsoft develop there products and there is information here that should help you out:

There appears to be no quick fix, so if you're desperate to include bespoke animations it might be an idea to convert them to wmv/avi files and import that way. I have important swf files into earlier versions of Powerpoint on a PC myself, but security issues appear to be getting in the way nowadays!
