MS Project 2007

Is there a way of having project open up in resource usage page, perhaps also filtered to a particular person.. ie. to reduce risk of that person altering other aspects?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: MS Project 2007

Hi Stuart

Project remembers the view it was last saved in. So you could apply your filters and view before saving the file and asking for input.

You might want to record a Macro to quickly switch views and apply filters - Tools > Macro > Record new macro.

In our advanced course we look at creating views, filters and groups. You can find out more at

http://www.microsofttraining.net/ms-project-courses-london-2003-advanced.php

I hope this helps - do let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: MS Project 2007

Thanks Andrew.

Can you please confirm the (i think 4?) formatting checks that you recommended before starting a project that ensures it is all formatted as you want it?

Thanks

RE: MS Project 2007

Hi Stuart

We looked at:

Setting the project properties File > Properties
Setting the start date Project > Project information
Adjusting the calendar > Tools > Change working time

We also changed the way non-working time is displayed on the calendar by double clicking on once of the grey columns that represent a weekend or by going to Format > Timescale > Non-working time and choosing the option to Draw in front of task bar.

You might want to add other settings to this list. For example turning off Effort Driven Scheduling for all future tasks by going to Tools > Options > Schedule and removing the tick from New tasks are effort driven.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Ms project tip:

Use Autofill in MS Project

a. Complete 1st entry
b. Select cell with entry to be copied
c. Click & drag autofill handle over the lines to also contain the same information. (the autofill handle is the little black square in the bottom right hand corner of the heavy lack outline on the selected cell)
