Setting up a project, essential first checks
Hi AndrewPlease can you confirm the 4 formatting checks that I need to carry out prior to setting up an MS Project document. These were detailed during our training day but didnt note down, and don't appear to be in the handbook?
Best

RE: Setting up a project, essential first checks
Hello StuartThank you for your question.
Andrew is currently away on annual leave, and not due back until 27 May. Are you happy for your query to be passed onto one of our other Project trainers; or would you like Andrew specifically to answer your post in which case there will be a delay in response until his return?
Kind regards
Amanda

RE: Setting up a project, essential first checks
Hi StuartI have spoken to our other Project trainers. They were not 100% sure which 'formatting' checks you were referring to, however he has suggested that it might be the following:
1. Schedule project start date (Project - Project information - choose project start date)
2. Build the necessary project default calendar (Tools - Change working time)
3. Go to Tools - Options - Calendar make the settings match what is in the project default calendar
4. Set the three layers of the gantt chart time scale appropriately (right-click on the timescale and choose Format Timescale, in Gantt chart view).
If these aren't the checks you were referring to, then can you please post through any further information that you remember about what Andrew told you in the training, as this might have been advice he offered in reference to the way your company specifically are using Project, in which case it will be more difficult for our other trainers to answer your question.
If this is the case, we will attempt to offer you further assistance on this tomorrow before midday.
